Yes, that is correct. We would need them for about 1 hour on Saturdays. They would only clean the open areas that will be used for the community park on the LAUSD RFK Campus, not the restrooms.

See the excerpt from my meeting/email below with RFK:

I just had a very useful meeting with Eugene Hernandez regarding hiring extra custodial cleanup staff for a Community School Park at RFK. Much to my surprise, he recommended we work with a private vendor. He says the district probably wouldn’t have a problem with it because they are in partnership with People for Parks and we would be the ones contracting with - and insuring - the vendor (It occurs to me now that we would need to verify we have the right kind of insurance). This would be for 1 person to clean up the park space itself, not the bathrooms. The bathrooms would need to be cleaned up by an LAUSD custodian.

The reasons why he thinks private custodial is a better way to go is it would be less of a hassle for LAUSD. (Especially if other schools would catch on to our providing extra custodial and want the same). He says the less bureaucracy the better. Also, it would be cheaper for us. We’d have to pay an LAUSD custodial person at least an hour overtime, whereas we could have a private vendor come and clean up during the last 45 minutes of park time.

Regarding bathroom clean up, in response to RFK’s desire to bring in new custodial, he had the idea of bringing in LAUSD custodians from a different school (such as LA Elementary), but he would also like to be at the next meeting with RFK principals so that he can address their concern personally. He’s very supportive of what we’re trying to do and has offered to help in whatever way he can.

Thank you,

Dear Mike

Molly and Grace tell me that they do not know of another contract where we are on LAUSD property, so I don’t think they would have us on file as a vendor working on their grounds.

I can look into what it might take to get that permission.

Do I have the details right?

We are talking about cleaning on school property, but when the school is closed right?

We are in the district Mondays and Thursdays. Would this be another day of the week?

Do you know how many hours?

Let me know

Thanks

Rick
